When was the last time you were in tears from laughing? I personally try to do this at least once a week. Not only is it healthy, but it feels good. There's so much bad, wrong, evil if u will going on in the world, I do agree its kinda hard 2 relax....but for Pedro's sake, take a load off every once in a while. Let your hair down. Not that you should laugh at someone else's expense, but if that's what it is, then DO IT!! It's good for the heart, the soul even. I don't take much seriously, like not much at all, but I'm always down for a good knee slapper. My personal favorite, is a joke that you get like 5-7 seconds after its said. One of those pause for effect kinda jokes.
My inspiration for writing this was the Anglo woman next to me on the train this morning. I'm on the platform on 14th waiting on the 6, and there she is, Coke bottle spectacles and all, with the only frown on her face, my radar immediately said "GUARANTEED FRUMP." So the train comes and I don't sit cuz I'm only goin one stop...Low and behold, she doesn't sit either, but opts to stand right in front the door in front of me. So not only can I not ogle at my own reflection in the glass, my reflection was replaced with her face. So I broke it down, in the 45sec ride to my stop. And after careful analysis, I bust out laughing. Yea I probably looked crazy, but who cares, I felt so much better after. Her frown looked frozen, almost like it was practiced for years and years. Can we say Botox!! The point being.....find something, anything, to bring some joy to your life once a week if not once a day...It's too short! And it could always be alot worse!!
And if you don't wanna laugh, slap box, it has the same effect.
Random side note....- jus saw the first guy I ever kissed in life, in the subway. His name is George (blushes)
So.......
Like it, love it, or hate it. This is mine, not yours. This is me, not you. And this is real!

OH yeah...gotta laugh. Those jokes you get a few seconds after? we call those 'joke grenades' lol
ReplyDeleteI haven't laughed myself to tears recently but the last time I was with about 6-7 others in a restaurant and who knows what started it..but we were at a around table in the center of the dining room...we were laughing hysterically...makes me smile just to think about it...people at other tables started laughing...the servers were laughing...it was ridiculous...we were in tears and a considerable amount of abdominal pain...seriously cramping...it was crazy.
I think ppl take themselves and life far too seriously...and with all the negative that's going on in the world it's easy to lose sight of the positive. You have to search for the positive i life on your own. The negative we get bombarded with incessantly by the media outlets. I believe it's a conspiracy to keep the masses in a downward, negative thought spiral...but that's another story entirely.
Now, all you have to do is observe the world around you to see some really funny ish. Sometimes it's just right in your face...and while I think it's at least a little bit mean on some level to laugh raucously at the expense of others, some things are simply proof positive that God has a sense of humor...
