Today:
18 yr old African American (A) male gets sentenced to LIFE in prison for the murder of his friend(B)that he witnessed but didn't commit. I'm not talking about one of this innocent until proven guilty scenarios. I'm talking about the actual shooter(C) admitting that he pulled the trigger that killed (B) and (A) is going to jail for LIFE for it. Got that??
Some would say that the circumstances leading up until that point would tell more, but I feel quite the opposite. It doesn't matter what happened prior to, that allowed a murder to actually place. What matters is the fact that in this country, the same one that ppl are dying daily to get to mind you, you can have your future snatched right from you, and often times for a crime you didn't commit or a bad decision. No prior convictions of felonies, just this. Should he pay some price for his participation in the crime or presence, ABSOLUTELY. Should that price be the rest of his life FUCK NO! He's 18 for Pete's sake.
I'm aware that some states have stricter penalties when it comes to guns. However in this particular state guns are legal. You get a license you can carry a gun. But if you shoot someone or witness someone shoot someone else, you get LIFE?? Where does that equate?? In what language does that make sense?? If you know please tell me, because it ain't right. No 15-life, not even 25-life, straight LIFE???
So any possibility of turning his life around or learning his lesson or getting on the right track is out the window. And at my expense, me being a tax payer and all. That is NOT justice. Granted it is a parents responsibility to raise their child/children and teach them right from wrong, but every child doesn't have parents much less concerned ones, every child isn't raised. Many children raise themselves and their main focus is survival. Not only for themselves, but for their siblings. Who expects them to be able to afford a lawyer?? And that court-appointed lawyer is gonna do only what's in their pay grade, so an appeal is def out of the question. Not making excuses, my point is however, that at what point is responsibility taken?? And by whom?? He'll never get to take that responsibility?? The justice system has blatantly showed where their responsibility lies, so now what??
Hold ya head my dude all of our prayers are with you!!

The article does you no justice and the truth, for all who knows it is what matters. No one ever believes that their child keeps bad company or is capable of bodily harm or for that murder. Just remember...every killer is someone's child.
So.......
Like it, love it, or hate it. This is mine, not yours. This is me, not you. And this is real!

This country is built on some kind of injustice since its inception. The above story is a great example and so is Delonte West getting probation and counseling (or some kinda slap on the wrist) for riding around MD on an ATV with a mini arsenal while Plax gets 2 or 3 years for shooting himself in the leg (I know there is more to it but you see my point)! P.S. D. West should have gotten time if not for the guns then for banging Lebron's Mom!
ReplyDeleteAfter reading the article I must revise my injustice stance! These kids were robbing a crackhead and things went wrong, thats bad luck for them, but I won't go as for as to call in injustice. If 3 guys are robbing someone or a store and 1 guy goes nuts and kills people then eevryone goes down for it, thats just the way it goes. Best advice is don't do anything you aint willing to deal with the consequences!
ReplyDeleteI know you're not the type to believe everything you read??? Especially in the news. Considering they just convicted him, I didn't expect the article to be nice. But the chain of events couldn't have been less accurate.
